The Weekend

First of all an update on the cookie lunch. Maddi reached in her lunch sack and pulled out a bag of cookies. Then she reached in to find her sandwich and pulled out more cookies. She looked inside and saw all cookies and she knew they were for bingo night. So, sweet little girl that she is....she didn't eat ANY of them! What kind of kid would have a bag of cookies and nothing else to eat and not eat any of them!?! The mom that was with her group gave Maddi her pb&j and bought her a drink. Maddi wasn't mad at me, but she also didn't think it was too funny. She said she was just surprised.

Friday night was Family Bingo night. Cade told me about 10 minutes before we left that they were supposed to wear their costumes. I checked the paper that I saved to read at some point but never did read and found out they were to wear costumes. They quickly changed into costumes and we were on our way to play bingo.
Cade took a break from playing bingo to eat one of his goodies from the bake sale.
Maddi has a mouth full of her goodies from the bake sale and paused for a picture with Aunt Shirley who is here to visit for about 12 days. When we picked her up from the airport and she got in the car Maddi said, "hi, Hot Mama" and the kids cracked up. So her new name this trip is "Hot Mama". It's hilarious, the kids will say Aunt Shirley blah, blah, blah and then correct themselves and say, I mean hot mama blah, blah, blah.
Maddi got bingo and picked her prize...a Shrek hippity hop. As you can tell, she is a cat for Halloween. Funny since you know how freaked out I am by cats. Oh well.
Cade with some of his kinder buddies. After about 15 minutes of bingo, all the kids were hopped up on sugar from the bake sale goodies and they were running around playing as the parents were playing bingo. Cade is a character from Star Wars, ob1, I think.
Saturday we carved pumpkins. The kids had a blast using the tools all by themselves. We have this strange family gene that keeps getting passed down from generation to generation that makes people stick their tongue out when they are concentrating. Check out Cade's tongue in this picture. In case you are wondering...the gene skipped me, but I passed it on to my children.

The final product. They look cool at night with the candles lit. Brett bought a book with patterns to carve. Maddi picked out a very challenging pattern for me to do. I lost my patience with it and made a simple face instead, but Shirley and Brett stuck with their patterns and made the fancy pumpkins.

Too Young for Altheimer's???

I feel like my mind is lost somewhere and I desperately miss it! I don't think I'm old enough for Altheimer's (sp?), but I could swear I'm in the beginning stages! Last week I drove to school to pick up Cade b/c I thought it might rain. I parked and got out of the car and was talking with a friend and then Cade had a friend come home with us and we started walking home. 3 houses away from our house, I realized that my car keys were in my hand and we had to walk back to school and drive my car home! Cade's friend thought it was hilarious and told his mom right away when he got home.

So this week I goofed again! Maddi has a field trip to the pumpkin patch today and I didn't go with them. I packed her lunch last night and put it in the fridge. I also made cookies last night for Family Bingo Night at school tonight and put them in ziploc baggies and put them in a lunch sack on the counter so everyone would stay out of the cookies. This morning we were running late for school (as usual) and I told Maddi to grab her lunch and put it in her backpack. At 11:45 today when I went to the fridge to make my own lunch, I see her lunch bag in there. I look on the counter and see the bag of cookies is gone! Maddi has COOKIES for lunch! I frantically called the school to see where this pumpkin patch is so my child can have a decent lunch and they tell me it's 40 minutes away and by the time I get there they'll be back on the buses to school. Now all the parents on the field trip and all the first grade teachers are going to know I'm losing my mind!!! I'm not sure if Maddi will think it's funny or if she'll be annoyed. I'm scared to find out. Now I also don't have cookies for Bingo night because I'm imagining Maddi is bartering with friends like....Give me a bite of your sandwich and I'll give you a cookie. Ugh...

Jack-o-lantern Update

So, the debate of pulling Maddi's teeth continues. She has had a front tooth hanging on by a thread and she won't let me or anyone touch it or look at it. I told Brett last night that I'm so tired of looking at a nasty tooth that I really wanted to pull that thing out while she was sleeping. Of course I didn't because I was afraid of her waking up and freaking out. But, someone upstairs is looking out for me and I got my way!! Last night (this morning?) at 3:30 in the morning she came running to my room that her tooth fell out. She was sleeping and pushed on her tooth with her tongue and it woke her up! Yeah! That nasty thing is out. But now she looks so big with her tooth gone. She's looking more and more like a jack-o-lantern just in time for Halloween!

DANCE!! Day 2

Warming up and stretching with Julianna and Malea. They were talking about their hair wraps they had done. Some girls got corn rows with beads, others got a wrap with a pattern and a charm. Maddi just got a braid with her hair and some yarn with it and a charm on the end. Her hair needs as little damage as possible. We need to take care of the few pieces of hair she was given!

One day I will read my camera book to learn how to take photos inside. Some of the girls went to a 9-12year old class (they usually went toa 6-9 year old) to learn a hip hop dance from Geo. He is a very well known dancer and choreographer. They performed in age groups and Maddi's group had about 8 girls in it. All the older girls were going wild for the little girls and "Geo" loved them too. It was so cute and the girls LOVED the attention!

DANCE!!! Day 1

So I'm posting these in backwards order, I guess. Here are some pics of dancing during the weekend at the Dells. Maddi and Daddy before the day got started.
Maddi got picked to dance on stage in one class. 3 girls get to dance on stage at a time and then they do it in age groups. It was a jazz class and the song was from Hairspray.

Some of the kids from Maddi's dance company with the hip hop teacher. Maddi is on the front left with her fingers by her eye again. I see the teacher is doing it too, but not by her eye. I guess this is where she got that pose she keeps doing. The kids had a great time in this class doing a hip hop dance to "Daddy mack will make you Jump-Jump".

Playing in the Water Park

After a whole day of dancing, they still had energy for the water park. Maddi, Emily, and Bailey B. stop to strike a pose.
Cade had spent a good part of the day in the water park and at this point he was in "melt down mode". We had to get a picture to remember it which made him even more mad.

Brett and Cade playing a little b-ball. Cade starts basketball next week, so he wanted to get some practice in. We rode several of the water slides too and they were a lot of fun. It's fun now that the kids are old enough to do some of the bigger rides, but it's also nice that they can swim and do things alone and we can sit and relax.

Fall Festival at Kalahari

Another activity at the resort was a fall festival with a hayride, bounce houses, pumpkin painting, crafts, snacks, face paint, balloons ,etc.Maddi only had a 45 minute break for lunch, so she had to eat on the hayride to the pumpkin patch. It was a nice break for her to get outside and get some fresh air.
You can tell it was a nice sunny day, we are having a hard time keeping our eyes open for the picture!
