Fun in the city

Sunday we spent the day in the city at our usual stomping grounds...Lego, American Girl, Garrett's popcorn, and some other shopping. We stayed at a hotel and then the kids skipped school Monday to go to Winter Wonderfest.

Here's Brett, Emalyn and Grammy at the Lego store.

The girls at America Girl eating dinner.

New hairdos using the napkin holder/souvenier hair bow.

A family photo attempt after dinner at AG. Cade and Brett joined us for dinner this time. Cade likes the 3 desserts and AG is one of Brett's customers, so it was good for him to go and talk with the manager. Emalyn was 5 weeks old and had her second visit to eat at American Girl. We're starting her young. Bummer was that when dinner was over the store was closed so Maddi didn't get to do the shopping she wanted to do. Grammy gave her money for Christmas and she wants to get some Chrissa merchandise since she's girl of the year and will be retired soon. I promised her another trip to AG before the year is over, so we'll be back...

I love the windows of all the stores on Michigan Avenue at the holidays.

Next on the agenda was walking across the street to the Hancock building to see the trains. Todd gave us his old camera when he was visiting and Brett is loving taking pictures with our "new" fancy camera. He's quite proud of this photo of the Hancock.

The kids at the trains.

Baby girl was yawning. Guess the trains were boring to her...She was awake a lot that night, and she slept 7 1/2 hours that night! Love my girl that sleeps good at night.

Grace and Sara.

The kids had a lot of energy to burn from all their desserts and hot cocoa at dinner. They were running around outside the Hancock.

The whole crew minus Becca and Grammy (they went back to the hotel).

Burning off more energy and getting dizzy running around the tree over and over...

Emalyn found her thumb back in the hotel room. It was so funny to hear her slurping her thumb.

Winter Wonderfest Fun!

The first activiy of the day, the slide!

Grace ended up a little crooked on the slide.

Ice skating. The kids did very well this year.

Becca, Grace and Sara's cousin Courtney getting ready to ice skate.

Cade on skates. He would say "I'm a really great ice skater" as he came crashing into the wall or falling down. He would pretty much run on the skates, but he did do a pretty good job.

Taking a break from skating for a minute. Cade was a sweaty boy from all of his hard work.

And they're off again...

The whole crew.

Sara, Cade and a random girl on the Hang Glider ride. It made all of the adults very queasy from spinning around so much.

Maddi, Becca, and Courtney taking a spin.

Maddi and Grace on the monkey ride.

Then we saw a magician and Maddi was picked to "fly". Really it was more levitated, but it was pretty cool. She's getting all set up now.

The beginning of the levitating.

Ta da!

He even put a hula hoop around her to show there was nothing under her.

The magician says performers get paid "big bucks" so he gave Maddi a big buck.

Fun on the carousel.

Emalyn was learning to smile frequently and was giving Grammy some smiles before she had to return to Texas. We had a wonderful visit with the family. Less than 24 hors later, Grampa and Texas Grammy flew into town. Pics of their visit coming soon.
