I'm a few days late, but here are some pictures of what our 10 month old "tornado" has been up to! Cade had a little couch in his room and we moved it downstairs so Emalyn could sit and play on it. She's not quite ready for it by herself yet but Maddi and Cade love to sit with her and supervise her on it.
I decided to take some pictures of Emalyn for her 10 month birthday and she just went from one thing to the next searching and destroying most things in her path, just like a tornado. She is a busy little baby and she enjoys exploring. She crawls like a champ and pulls up on everything, even the wall. I have a feeling she'll be walking soon. She has learned to push her baby stroller and the first night she pushed it was priceless. She would squeal with delight after each step she would take. I was up in her room with her and Brett came up to see what in the world was going on because she was making so much noise.
Such a sweet little face! She weighed 20 pounds 10 ounces at her doctor visit last week, which was 75%. She was 30 inches long, off the charts for height. She still has some seriously chunky thighs. We joke that Emalyn is a fat girls name. Ha ha. Just kidding! We love our chunky munky and especially her chunks! She has learned to feed herself, finally! She shovels whatever you put in front of her right into her mouth. She has also mastered the sippy cup. Yeah! I was afraid we'd be following her to preschool to feed her. I'm kind of thinking since the big kids are back at school, she had to learn how to do some things for herself.
Her hair is really growing in and we pretty much put just bows in it now. We'll do headbands now and then, but she tends to pull them off. She hasn't figured out to pull out the bow yet. She has 3 teeth on top and 2 on the bottom and they are sharp! She has bitten every one of us, mutiple times. She LOVES to brush her teeth. If she sees me brushing my teeth she'll wave to her toothbrush and grunt for me to give it to her. She immediately puts it in her mouth and then crawls around brushing her teeth.
She is wearing some 12 month and some 18 month clothes. She's very tall and needs the length for pants. We have some shoes in a bin that her cousins passed down to her and I was trying them on her. Then she reached in and grabbed a shoe and tried to put it on her foot. It was so cute! She definitely understands what we are saying to her, but she isn't really saying words. She makes all types of sounds. When we ask if she's all done eating, she'll pull at her bib to take it off. She waves to people or things she likes, but won't usually wave if we tell her to wave at a stranger. She claps when we tell her to and if we say blow a kiss, she closes her mouth and says "MMMMMMMM". She still says "mmmmmmommm" when she's crying and wants momma. She's said dada too, but not sure if she knows what it means.
Emalyn sleeps from about 7:00 until 6:00 or sometimes she'll wake up around 5:00 or 5:30 and have a bottle and go back to sleep until 7:00. She naps in the morning and afternoon, usually for about an hour and a half or two hours. She loves her burp rags and snuggles with them to fall asleep.
Best Friends! Sort of. Cocoa is very tolerant of Emalyn and Emalyn loves, loves, loves that dog. She has now discovered the laundry room with Cocoas food and water and kennel. She likes to splash in the water and she likes to open and close the kennel door over and over. If Emalyn notices the laundry room door is open, she'll crawl right over and squeal (as if to let us know she's about to get into trouble).
Emma loves open and close things over and over. This drop leaf table is a favorite, as are the cabinets. She's not too concerned with what's in the cabinets, but I'm sure the days of emptying the cabinets are coming soon!
I love this giraffe face. It's like "ummm, yeah. I'm cute, right?"
Then the 10 month old tornado moved to another favorite spot...the formal living room table with all the pictures. She loves to look at the pictures of her family! She's definitely keeping us on our toes, but it's so fun. She has such a fun personality. Pretty laid back, with some attitude snuck in here and there. We're flying to Boston in the morning, so I'm sure we're up for an adventure on a 2 hour flight with Miss Thing. We love that baby girl and wish we could freeze her at 10 months forever!
