Champions!

Cade was on two baseball teams this year, an in house team and then a part time travel team. His in house team started off pretty crummy but won their last 7 or so games in a row and then won all 3 games of the playoffs, including the championship game. Part of the reason they started winning games is because the coach stopped letting everyone pitch and only let the kids who could really pitch pitch. Cade was their star pitcher and it was fun to see him and the rest of the team improve during the season. Emalyn wore her orange shirt to support her Bubba's team, the Mets.

Cade started off the game pitching the first three innings.

I'm not kidding when I say Brett took nearly 100 pictures of him pitching!

All 9 outs of the 3 innings he pitched were from strike outs! He did give up a 2 run homer but, he had a great game on the mound.

This picture shows the coach of the other team. Funny story, after the 2nd inning, he came over to Cade and asked him if he was feeling ok and if he needed to sit out the next inning. His son plays on Cade's travel team and he was joking around with Cade because he was doing so well, he didn't want him pitching against them any more. We have met some really nice families this year in baseball and thankfully, none of them seem to be crazy over the top parents.

Emalyn improved this year too, as a fan. She decided it was ok to leave mommy's lap and decided to play with the other kids. The other kids were always glad to see when Maddi wasn't at dance and was at the baseball game. She is so sweet with the little sisters and they all look up to her.

The game is over and the Mets are the champions!

The boys of summer. Funny thing is a few days after the game, Brett got an email from the commisioner of the league, who is also the coach of his travel team. He wanted to know how many innings Cade pitched in the championship game and also the game before that. Apparently someone was questioning if Cade's coach cheated and pitched Cade too many innings, but there was no cheating. Guess they only cared about it because Cade was that good :)

We got a cookie cake for the team for after the game. It was a big hit!

All star games were Friday and Saturday, but since we left for Myrtle Beach Saturday morning, Cade only played on Friday night. He was only allowed to pitch one inning, but did great. He had a great time playing with kids from other teams.

Cade's travel team played in a tournament while we were out of town and they have one more tournament this weekend, then baseball is over until fall ball starts at the end of August.
