The Outer Banks Day 1

On the 4th of July, we flew to Corolla, North Carolina to the Outer Banks for Grandma's Summer Camp. Brett's dad and step-mom had rented a house and all of Brett's brothers, sister and step brother and sister and their families were all coming to spend a week together. We had never been to the Outer Banks before, but we had so much fun that I'm sure we'll be back soon.

Here we are waiting at the airport. The flight was great and Emalyn fell asleep on take off and slept about 30 minutes. The rest of the hour and a half flight was challenging at times, but she did pretty well. When we flew home, Emalyn fell asleep before we took off and slept all but about 20 minutes of the flight. It was bliss!

While in the Outer Banks we stayed very busy but relaxed at the same time. Brett loves taking millions of pictures with his new camera, so I'm breaking this up into several days when I have time to weed through all the pictures. We got to North Carlina at night time on Sunday and early Monday morning Cade was already asking to go swimming and had already swam once by himself before the girls woke up and ate breakfast. Then everyone joined Cade for a swim.

Zoey and Maddi jumping in. Zoey is 364 days older than Cade. Zoey and Maddi hung out a lot and Grace (she's 3 1/2) tagged along with them. Alex is 16 and did his own thing of reading, sleeping, and eating and occasionally hung with the younger kids. Cade was odd man out and spent his time swimming and complaining he was bored while waiting for the next activity. In a few years Will will be old enough to hang with Cade, kind of. Will is almost 2. Cade and Uncle Todd spent a lot of time together too, which Cade loved.

Emalyn loved it outside. We stayed on the sound side and had a lot of birds to watch and had beautiful sunsets. I am wearing our "uniform". Not my favorite part of summer camp, for sure! Sometimes you've got to please the grandparents...

Texas Grammy plans a craft or activity for most days. This day they made soap.

Little William. This is the craziest almost 2 year old I've ever met. He is his father's payback. He is very determined and strong and strong willed, like every 2 year old, only more intense! Don't let that innocent face fool you.

This year Texas Grammy asked everyone to come up with a silly session. Maddi did her trick of "are you smart? are you really smart? Are you dumb?......" Grampa didn't fall for it, but almost everyone else did. Silly session was really funny.

Now Maddi's doing it to Zoe. Other people sang, did skits, told jokes and whatever they wanted to do to be silly. It was a very fun first day!
