Sunday was super sunny and it was the perfect day for a baseball game. The kids school had a reading program where the kids got a ticket to the minor league baseball game for a reward. The whole school got their tickets for the same day, so the kids had a blast seeing their friends at the game. First there was a parade where basically the kids walk out from center field and then around third, home plate and end at first base to get autographs from the players. Cade, Maddi, Jane, and Maddie H. stopped for a picture at home plate.

There were long lines to get the autographs, so each of our kids just got one autograph from the players. I think they had more fun getting autographs from friends on their reading club t-shirt. The whole game the kids were moving around the stands getting autographs. It was so cute.

Cade was so proud of his foam finger. What a goof ball! We were sitting with Maddie H.'s family and she has a little brother who immediately wanted a foam finger when Brett and Cade came back with one. His mom gave in and got him a foam finger too and as soon as he got it he looked at Cade and said "let's fight." I've seen these silly fingers for many years at games and never once did it cross my mind that they could be used as weapons. The boys had a great time "finger sword fighting." Who knew?
The kids went home with Maddie H.'s family and Brett and I stopped at the outlet mall to get Brett some new shirts. We enjoyed our time shopping together without the kids. We picked up pizza on the way home and ate over at Maddie H.'s. The kids were wiped out from a day in the sun and got baths and bed and we called it a day.
It was a beautiful sunny day in the 60s and we even got sunburns. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine I would consider a 60 degree day a day for a tank top, but that's what a Chicago winter will do to you. My body thermometer is warped and I now think 60 is warm and I actually dread a 90 degree swealtering hot day that might come in a few months!
