Cade had awards night at Awana's Sunday. It didn't start at the regular Awana time, it was 30 minutes later, so we played at the playground for a while before. I told our friends the wrong time too (it was wrong on the website) so they played with the kids too. Luckily it was a nice day and the kids enjoyed their play time. Funny thing is that we did the same thing last year. Oh well, better early than miss it, I guess.
Cade is such a big boy that it took Grace and Jack together to keep Cade down on the see saw. One of our friends mentioned how big Cade is and asked if we've had his plates measured to see how big he's going to be. We said no and later that night as we were driving home, Cade asked if someone could be too tall. He wondered if you're so tall, do you lose your memory or something? Ha ha. That boy is constantly told how big and tall he is and being the worrier that he is, I think it scares him sometimes.
Love Jack's face on the slide. That slide is crazy fast! Not that I've gone on it, I just watch the kids fly down it.
More fun on the see saw. What happened to the ones we had as kids that went really high up and there was nothing but a little handle to hold on to? Things are so safe these days.....
My 9 1/2 year old Maddison Shea. She had her half birthday Friday and we celebrated by going to dinner at Red Robin. It really seems like yesterday that she was the size of Emalyn and looked so much like her too. I love that Maddi girl so much, all 9 1/2 years of her.
We finally went inside and got our seats for the awards ceremony. Do either of these little girls look like their mommy? Not so much!
Do these little girls look like their daddy? Yeah, I think so.
Ellie was torturing Andrew. Both of their faces are so funny and cute.
Emalyn's little friend, Ellie. Ellie is exactly 6 months older than Emalyn and they are our next door neighbors. The two little girls will have so much fun growing up together and trying to keep up with their older brothers and sisters.
Emalyn torturing Maddison. Emalyn LOVES to pull mine and Maddi's hair. Maddi's so sweet, you can see on her face that it hurts, but she's just letting her pull her hair anyway.
Maddie H. came to sit with Maddi. Maddie and Maddi are too old to go to Awana on Sundays now, they would have to go on Wednesday, but it doesn't work with our schedule.
I just have to let my father in me come out...this baby has more chins than a Chinese phone book! Seriously, hopefully one day she'll lose some of that chunky neck, it won't be cute forever!
That's my sweet baby. She just laid her little head down and fell asleep. She had only taken two 15-20 minute naps that day because she thought she was a rockstar or something. She didn't nap too long this time either, but at least she got a little rest.
Cade, in the orange striped shirt, posing for a picture.
After awards we all got ice cream. This cute family is one of the families we carpooled with. The boy and girl look exactly like their mom and dad.
Some of the gang enjoying their ice cream.
Emalyn enjoying her baby fingers, no ice cream for her yet!
Other things happening around our house lately....Cade read his reading story to Emalyn one morning. She really enjoyed it!
Cade moved up a level in swimming and is now learning the butterfly stroke (I think) and also how to start a race with diving.
The boy is a little fish. He loves to swim. Speaking of fish, his Beta fish, Buddy, died. Cade was so very sad, but that poor little fish had been very gray and not looking so hot for a long time.
Backstroke.
We have ducks that keep appearing in our yard. I really hope they aren't nesting! Our dove above the door had it's babies the other day. Why do birds love to nest at our house?
The kids love to play on the computer. One of their favorite games is Poptropica. I love when they get along well and help each other out, it's not always that way.
