The kids have the most random school schedule. For some reason they were out of school Tuesday (election day) so we went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate my two favorite girls birthdays. Maddi wanted to go there on her birthday but since she was still recovering from the stomach bug we decided to wait. It was a lot of fun because most of the other school districts had school that day and there were hardly any kids there. Happy Birthday Maddison and Emalyn!
Maddi has always wanted glasses and Monday her dream came true. Only problem is that when she found out she needed glasses, she was almost in tears. All of sudden glasses didn't seem so cool anymore. I think it had something to do with me and my big mouth. Apparently a year or two ago when she wanted to wear her fake glasses all the time, I told her she looked weird in them so she was afraid she'd look weird in her real glasses. Way to go Pam! I told her I said that because her fake glasses weren't the right size or shape for her face but the people at the eye doctor helped her pick the right lens for her face shape, hair color, etc. and now she looks adorable. I really do think she looks pretty cute in her glasses. She was afraid to wear them to school but after wearing them the first day and getting lots of compliments from her friends, she seems to be comfortable in them. Brett and his mom both got glasses at 10 years old in the 4th grade. Sounds hereditary! She has to wear them all the time, not just for reading. The doctor originally thought she'd need bifocals. Crazy. She might still need them down the road but for now he's trying this prescription.
Here she is modeling her new glasses at the science fair at school. Brett and Maddi did her science fair project while I was in Texas and I think it turned out so great. It looks much better than what I would have helped her do, that's for sure. The two of them enjoyed their time working on the project together. I would have pulled my hair out and Maddi would have learned to hate science and projects in general. This school year has been very challenging for her academically and I'm so thankful that she had an opportunity to enjoy something related to school.
