Saturday before Thanksgiving Omie and her friend, Al, flew into town. They made it in just in time for Cade's time trials swim meet. Here is Emalyn cheering on her "Bubby".
After the swim meet we came back to our house for our Thanksgiving feast. Brett was leaving town Sunday for his grandfather's funeral in Texas and returning Wednesday. Al was leaving Wednesday to spend Thanksgiving with his mom so Saturday was our only day we would all be together. It was a very tastey meal and I was thankful for my mom's help with the cooking. Maddi and Cade broke the wish bone. Our wish came true that everyone would be healthy this Thanksgiving. Last year Brett, Maddi and Cade had the stinking swine flu. We all have so much to be thankful for and we truely were thankful for our health and that we were all together.
Sunday Brett left for Texas and the rest of us enjoyed spending time together. Maddi had desperately been wanting to use her cake decorator set she got for her birthday and Omie was happy to help. Maddi loves cooking and I think one of her
favorite parts is licking the bowl.
The cake turned out so cute. It didn't taste so great, it was as hard as a rock, but it looked great.
Cade had fun looking at the different designs on the leaves that had blown off the trees.
The kids had a great time with Al. He even jumped on the trampoline with them. We went to lunch at Red Robin, played at the park, played spoons, checkers and other games and finished off the day with Wii.
I love the looks on Maddi and Al's faces as they are playing Wii.
The kids had so much fun with Omie and Al when they weren't at school. Luckily they were short school days for parent/teacher conferences. Omie and Al played whatever the kids wanted to play, mainly Wii, and everyone had a great visit.
This was Wednesday morning before we left to get Brett at the airport. After we got Brett, we checked in our hotel and Omie and Al drove all over downtown Chicago exploring. We met them at Uncle Julio's for a yummy lunch and then Al left for the airport. We went back to the hotel and then Maddi, Omie and I went to see Billy Elliott!
