Thanksgiving Week Part 2

After lunch we went back to the hotel. This picture really shows the difference in size of Maddi and Cade. She is almost 2 years older than him! He's super tall for an 8 year old boy and she's about average for a 10 year old girl.

I wanted some pictures of the kids by the tree in the lobby and they were acting a bit goofy.

I love those silly kids!

Then it was back to the room to freshen up and take more pictures before we left for the 2:00 start of Billy Elliott. One day Emalyn will get to join her big sister for fun things like musicals!

Cade was still being goofy. Boys...gotta love em.

Emalyn was being goofy too, blowing on the window. Such a little cutie pie!

2 very special girls in my life. It was our Christmas gift to my mom, Maddi's gift from Brett and I, and my gift from Brett and the kids to go see Billy Elliott. The 3 of us had a great time together.

We always have to get a picture outside before going in. It was quite cold and Maddi wasn't too excited about getting pictures outside, but I told her one day she'll appreciate it. Hopefully years from now when Maddi is reading this blog book she'll read this and realize she's thankful we took this picture. Ha ha. It was a good show, but I was hoping for a little more singing and dancing than there was. Some parts were pretty slow, but it was still very enjoyable.

And now inside the beautiful Oriental Theater before we went to our seats. I love that Maddi loves going to the theater. She is so grown up and mature and just a joy to do things with.

Maddi and her Omie before heading to our seats. Those two have a very special bond. It makes me sad that Emalyn will never quite know Omie, or any of her grandparents for that matter, like Maddi and Cade do/did. It's hard living across the country from grandparents, but we treasure the times we do spend together.

Thanksgiving morning Brett went to work for a bit while we ate breakfast at the hotel and then Emalyn took a nap. When he was finished working, he picked us up and we went to the Shedd Aquarium for a bit.

Emalyn was only 5 months old the last time we were there and this time, she loved it! She was pointing at this....

.....turtle!

She was so interested in the turtle and every other sea creature she saw.

3 things I was thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Luckily it wasn't very crowded that day, but the line for the cafeteria was crazy long. We decided that we didn't want to wait in a long line for not so great food, so we left and went to eat at Rosebud. It was very good, much better than what we would have had at the Shedd. After lunch we drove back to the 'burbs and relaxed.

Friday morning we had an appointment at the mall for family photos for our Christmas card. It's so hard to believe that sweet little Emalyn was such a tiny newborn this time last year. She's all grown up and I don't think any of us had any idea how well she would just "fit" into our family. I never imaged us as a family of 5 and now I can't imagine it any other way.

Omie with 2 of her 3 grand daughters. She has 9 grandchildren and only 3 are girls, and 2 are from me! Yes, Maddi wore this same dress to Billy Elliott. She'll wear it on Christmas Eve too! She was so excited to wear it for Billy Elliott and I love that she still loves to get dressed up. She's such a girly girl and I don't think I'd know what to do if she wasn't girly.

Our family pics were surprisingly really good. When we were walking back to the car we noticed there wasn't any line for Santa so we walked right up and got a picture with the jolly old man. My mom took this picture from afar, but you can see Emalyn didn't exactly enjoy meeting Santa. She did stop crying though when the photographer showed her the parrott puppet and we got a decent Santa picture. The rest of the day was low key and the next morning we said our goodbyes to Omie. Once again, we really enjoyed her time here and we made a bunch of new fun memories.
