The whole family helped put together Emalyn's new kitchen she bought with gift cards from Omie and Grammy! I put batteries in the stove and screwed it in and it was enough of a challenge for me that I was done helping. Brett and Cade put the rest of it together and Maddi put the stickers on. Emalyn climbed around getting in everyones way but I'm sure she really thought everyone was in her way. She was so happy and just wanted to play with her kitchen :)
She had her one year visit yesterday and she pretty much cried through the whole thing. She didn't like being weighed, measured, the doctor checking her out and she especially didn't like the shots. Maddi and Cade went with me because they were getting flu shots too. They thought it was pretty funny that she was crying through it all. She weighed 21 pounds 9 ounces, which is around 60th percentile. Her height is back on the chart at 97th% at 31 inches. He said she can go to 2% milk, she doesn't need the fat of whole milk. Cade was told the same thing when he was a little chunkster. Ha ha. She checked out fine and got a clean bill of health, except because of her eczema he wants to wait until she's 3 to eat shellfish or peanut butter. Bummer. I bought her some sunbutter which is made with sunflower seeds and she seems happy with that. She always wants the kids sandwhiches when they are eating pbjs. I hope it's ok that she's been eating lots of Chick Fil A nuggets which are cooked in peanut oil. Forgot to ask about that.
Other things she's doing at one:
*No words! She used to say mama and dada but not anymore. She makes lots of sounds but no words yet. She points to things and says "uh, uh, uh" and that's about all. *She's been working really hard on walking and pretty much has it down. Some days she walks all over the place and other days she'll hold on to things and walk. Babies just learning to walk are the cutest! Maybe when she's better at walking she'll work on talking.
*Wearing size 4 diapers and 12-18 month clothes. Size 4 shoes.
*Taking 2 naps a day for 1-2 hours each and sleeping about 11 hours at night from 7:30-6:30 without waking up for a bottle.
*Eats anything and everything. The only thing she really doesn't like is mashed potatoes. She likes to try to eat with a spoon and fork. We like to experiment and give her cheerios with blueberries and apple jacks or whatever, just a few different things. She will almost always eat all of one thing and then another and then another thing. I'd say blueberries are her favorite thing. She'll choose those over any other food.
*She is very sensitive and gets her feelings hurt if we tell her no or use a harsh voice. Maddi told her no the other day and Emma layed her head down and started crying and then Maddi almost starting crying because she felt so bad for hurting her feelings. My sensitive little girls....
*She also has an attitude developing. She will hit or bite if she's angry. She tends to bite me and Cade. She'll just bite me out of the blue and she'll bite Cade if he picks her up and she doesn't want to be picked up. It hurt his feelings but I told him he was a biter too and now he doesn't feel so bad.
*Favorite toys are her shape sorter (she's very good at it actually), her kitchen, balls of any kind (she loves to throw them), her baby stroller, anything musical, and books (especially Brown Bear).
*Maddi taught Emalyn a new trick. I've got to get a video of it on here. Maddi says she taught her to breakdance. Emalyn lays on her back and Maddi says "You go girl, you go girl" and Emalyn kicks her legs up in the air and down. It's so funny! Anytime we say "you go girl" to her she'll start dancing. I love how Maddi and Cade interact with her.
